Split one delivery across your stores

Receive a delivery at one store and send each line's units to several, with Suggest split and a Split priority to do the sums.

Sometimes the boxes all arrive at one shop and you divide them up as you unpack - so much for this store, so much for the next. Pick Split across locations in the Receive to location box at the top of the receive card and each line grows a number box for every store, in columns headed with the store names.

Place each line

Type what each store gets straight across the line - 10, 10, 4 - and press Tab to move from one store to the next. Under each box is how many that store already has, and the store you are receiving at is marked Receiving here. With more stores than fit on screen, the columns scroll sideways inside the card.

On a line you have not counted yet, the numbers you type across also fill its Receive count with their total. If the count was scanned or typed first it is left alone - that is still what physically turned up - and the line's Status shows how many are left to place. The location icon after the boxes, Put the rest here, drops the remainder at the store you are in.

Receive when every line adds up and Stockroom writes one delivery per location, the same as an order that was split when you placed it. A line with nothing in its store boxes lands where you are receiving.

If a line does not add up - more or fewer placed than you counted - nothing is received at all, at any location, and Stockroom tells you which line to fix. Splitting is offered on ordinary orders in a store with more than one location, not on returns or dropship orders.

Let Stockroom suggest the split

Rather than working the numbers out yourself, press Suggest split, the wand icon after a line's store boxes. Stockroom fills in the boxes, sending units to whichever store has the least of that item - what it has available plus anything already on its way, not counting this delivery - until the stores are level. Units that don't divide evenly go one at a time to the stores highest in your Split priority.

It only fills in the boxes. Check them, change anything you like, and receive as usual - nothing is received until you do.

The stores it splits across are the ones in your Split priority, if you have set one. Otherwise it uses the stores the order was sized for when it came from Reorder, or else every store that stocks the item.

Set a Split priority

Go to Settings > Inventory & COGS and find Split priority. Click Add location for each store you want Suggest split to use, put them in the order leftover units should go with the arrows, and press Save. Stores left off the list are left out of suggestions. With an empty list, Suggest split picks the stores itself, as above.

Know the split before it ships?

If you already know which store each unit is for when you order, split the purchase order itself with Add another destination in the purchase order editor. Each item is then received into the store it was ordered for - see Receive some lines, the whole order, or several orders at once. A CSV can do the same with a Destination column - see Creating a purchase order from a CSV file.

Good to know

  • Each store gets its own receipt, listed in the order's History card with its location.

  • Hidden locations are never suggested.

  • Every store has its own colour beside its name on its column of the receive card, and on the section bands of an order that was split when it was placed - the same colour for that store everywhere on the card.

  • You can bring a whole split in from a spreadsheet with a column per store - see Count a delivery in a spreadsheet and import the quantities.
