Build reports

Five reports for making things - builds in a period, work in progress, what components were consumed, throughput and on-time, and recipe cost against actual.

Under Reports you will find five manufacturing reports. Like every report they show a ranked slice on screen, export the whole thing to CSV, and can be scheduled.

Builds

Every build created, finished or cancelled in the period - quantities, due dates, Days late, build cost, plus stage, priority, assignee and workstation. Filter by the product being built.

Work in progress

A snapshot of now: every open build (and a built build still holding issued components), urgent first. Three values per build, one for each place a component can be: Issued value - issued to the build and not yet built, at the cost it was issued at (the real work-in-progress balance); Consumed value - what build records have already moved into finished goods; Committed value - what the remaining units still need from the shelf at today's costs. Charges and an estimated total sit beside them; a build with a component missing a cost is flagged rather than summed low.

Component consumption

What builds used per component in the period - units and value - with what came back through disassembly shown separately. Filter by component to answer "how much wax did we go through in July".

Build throughput

Builds finished per week or month: units built, average lead time from creation to built, and on-time against due dates. Switch the period with the Period control.

Build cost variance

For finished builds in the period: the Recipe cost (what the recipe said it would take) against the actual consumed cost - the Usage variance - and the actual unit cost against today's estimate.

Elsewhere

  • The Movement ledger shows build records as their own rows (finished goods in, components out), and disassembly the other way.

  • A product's stock history on its product page shows each build record linked to its build.

Good to know

  • Scrapped units (recorded on a build record) appear as Scrapped and Yield % columns at the end of the Builds, Build throughput and Build cost variance reports; Build cost variance also shows Scrap value. Usage variance still includes the components the scrapped units used - the new columns say how much of it was scrap.

  • Values use the cost each build record snapshotted at the time, so a later cost change never restates a finished build.

  • The on-screen table is a ranked slice; totals are over everything and the CSV is the whole report.
