Shopify stores collect locations over time - a closed shop, a returns depot, a dropship placeholder. Hiding a location keeps it out of your way across Stockroom without changing anything in Shopify.
Hide a location
Go to Settings → Inventory & COGS and find the Locations section. Tick Hide next to any location - each change saves immediately.
At least one location always stays visible - the last visible location's Hide box is disabled.
What hiding does
The location leaves every picker and filter: new purchase orders, adjustments, stocktakes, transfers, label printing, and the Products location filter.
Its stock stops counting toward product totals, low and out-of-stock counts, and the inventory value on the Products page.
Reorder suggestions and suggested transfers no longer consider it - its stock and its sales history both drop out of the math.
Stock alerts stop for that location (anything already alerting there clears), and Shopify Flow stock triggers no longer fire for it. Your existing alerts keep working for every location you still use - there is nothing to delete and recreate, and the hidden location simply stops appearing in the emails. This applies even to an alert you pointed at that location specifically.
Stock reports and Sidekick answers skip it.
What hiding doesn't touch
Shopify itself. The location is untouched in your Shopify admin and keeps working everywhere outside Stockroom.
Existing documents. Purchase orders, receipts, adjustments, and stocktakes that already use the location keep it, with its name, forever.
COGS and cost history. Costs already booked stay exactly as they were - hiding changes what you see going forward, never your financial history.
Point of Sale. A register at a hidden location keeps working normally - the till's physical location is a fact, not a preference.
Locations you didn't create
Shopify creates a separate location for every app that stocks or ships on your behalf - a third-party warehouse (3PL), or one location per supplier brand if you use Shopify Collective. Stockroom shows these with a Fulfillment service badge, so you can tell them apart from the locations you set up yourself.
They work like any other location: their stock counts toward your totals, reorder suggestions and alerts, and you can tick Hide on any you don't manage in Stockroom.
Unhide it later
Untick Hide and the location returns everywhere: pickers offer it again, its stock counts again, and reorder suggestions and alerts rebuild on their own within a few minutes.
Good to know
Locations you deactivate in Shopify are treated exactly like hidden ones - they leave the pickers and stop counting, automatically.
Location fields across Stockroom pre-fill with the location you used on your previous document of the same kind - your last purchase order, adjustment, stocktake, or transfer route. Hiding a location also removes it from those defaults.
Hiding only affects Stockroom - other apps and Shopify's own reports still see the location.
