Stockroom works on the Shopify POS till, so your floor staff can receive deliveries and reorder stock without opening admin. Add the Stockroom tiles to your POS smart grid to get started.
Receive stock at the till
The Receive stock tile lists purchase orders to receive at that location, with To receive and Received tabs. Open a PO and:
Tap Receive all, or set quantities per line for a partial delivery.
Tap Scan with camera to count items in with the phone's camera, or type a code into the field. Stockroom matches each scan to a line, moves that line to the top of the list and shows a message with the item's name and your count against the order, so you can check each scan as you go. Scanned something twice? Tap - on that line to take one off. This tile is the one place Stockroom receives with a camera; the admin app's Scan to count field takes a barcode scanner or a typed code.
Tap Save receipt to record it.
Your Shopify inventory updates at that location moments later, just like receiving in admin. Product pages in POS also show an Incoming stock block when a product has units on the way, with a shortcut to receive.
Receiving at the till records quantities only - your staff are never asked about costs. Your product costs are still kept up to date: Stockroom does it for them, without anyone at the counter being asked. If you would rather set costs by hand, turn off Update product costs automatically when stock is received on POS in Stockroom under Settings - Inventory & COGS. Stockroom then sets each product's cost to the new weighted average of the stock you already had and the stock that just arrived, exactly as the update dialog does when you receive an order in Stockroom. Selling prices are never changed automatically. See Landed cost: what your stock really costs.
Create reorder POs at the till
The Create PO tile lets you build purchase orders as you walk the floor:
Tap Scan items and scan anything running low, or Find products to search the catalog.
Each item lands on a draft PO for its supplier at that location. Scanning the same item again adds to it.
Open a draft to adjust quantities, then Mark as ordered (with a quick confirm) to push incoming stock to Shopify.
Costs and supplier emails stay in Stockroom admin, so you can finish the paperwork later.
Count inventory at the till
The Count stock tile lists open counts at the register's location, and Start a new stocktake here begins one for that location without opening admin. Staff pick a count and scan with a POS-connected barcode scanner or the camera, or type a code into Enter a barcode or SKU; each scan adds 1, and every count is saved instantly and attributed to the staff member logged in to POS. Expected quantities are never shown on POS, so floor counts are always honest blind counts.
POS is a counting surface only. When staff are finished, tap Done counting - it confirms what was counted and points to the next step. Reviewing the differences and applying them to Shopify happen in Stockroom admin, under Inventory - Stocktakes. See Count your inventory with stocktakes.
Adding to Shopify POS
You can add Stockroom to two areas of your Shopify POS:
A tile on the home page;
An app extension on your product details
The most reliable place to do this is the POS editor in your Shopify admin: open the Point of Sale channel and edit your smart grid there. You can also edit tiles directly on the POS screen.
Stockroom is not in the tile list? If you looked for the Stockroom tiles before 24 August 2026 and could not find them on the device, that was a fault on our side, it is fixed, and they are there now - force-close Shopify POS, reopen it, and add them. Otherwise, check that the POS app is up to date and that the device is signed in to the same store Stockroom is installed on. Staff also need to be logged in to POS with access to apps.
Good to know
Staff need to be logged in to POS with access to apps to use these tiles.
Shopify POS only passes scans to apps from the scanner models it supports, so a generic Bluetooth scanner paired to a phone often will not reach the tile. Type the code into Enter a barcode or SKU instead - most scanners type the code and press Enter for you - or count from a counting link or Stockroom admin, which accept any scanner.
A product needs a vendor in Shopify so Stockroom can match it to a supplier.
Marking a PO ordered on POS makes it appear in the Receive stock tile's To receive list.
