Receiving this error when syncing Shopify orders to QuickBooks Online or Desktop using MyWorks Sync?

Error

Error:6000: [A business validation error has occurred while processing your request, Business Validation Error: Inclusive Tax Type is not allowed]

Error Number 530:
Error: The field “IsTaxIncluded” is not supported by this implementation.

Cause

This error from QuickBooks normally means that you may have incorrectly enabled “Inclusive Tax” in your Shopify Store tax settings, and you're located in the United States.

When this is enabled in Shopify, this changes your Shopify order's tax to be inclusive in your product's price - which is not common in the United States, or supported by the US version of QuickBooks Online.

As the "Learn More" link shares under this setting in Shopify, this setting is not meant for use in US stores, and is normally only applicable for stores in countries like the UK, where the price already includes the sales tax you're charging for a product.

Resolution

Luckily, the resolution here is easy! Simply turn off the above setting in your Shopify sales tax settings. Once disabled, orders placed while this setting is off would be able to sync successfully to QuickBooks.
