A cycle count is a standing stocktake. On the schedule you set, Stockroom opens the session for you and emails a link straight to it, so counting starts without anyone remembering to set it up. Counting a slice of the shop often beats closing for a full count once a year.
Set one up
Go to Inventory > Stocktakes and press Cycle counts. Existing schedules are listed at the top; under New cycle count you fill in:
Name (optional) - what the sessions will be called, like "Weekly floor count". Leave it empty and they are numbered like any other stocktake.
Location - which location gets counted, if you have more than one.
What to count - all products at that location, products matching filters, just active or just draft ones, one vendor, one product type, one supplier, products in a bin, the least recently counted items (you say how many), or only what you scan. A schedule cannot take a hand-picked list of products: filters re-ask their question every time it runs, while a list chosen once would quietly stop describing the shop. Blind count - hides expected quantities while counting, so whoever is counting records what they see. Differences show up at review.
Frequency and Time - daily, weekly or monthly, at the hour you choose. Weekly schedules also get a Day, so the count lands on your quiet day rather than a Monday. Monthly runs on the 1st.
Email recipients - leave it empty to use your shop email, or give a comma-separated list. Tick Also post to Slack to announce it in your connected channel too.
Press Create schedule and it starts running.
What happens when it runs
Stockroom opens a new stocktake, builds the list of items behind the scenes, and emails everyone on the schedule a link to it. From there it is an ordinary stocktake: count, review and apply it the same way. See Count your inventory with stocktakes.
If the last session it opened is still open, the new slot is skipped. A schedule never stacks up uncounted sessions waiting for you.
Changing or stopping one
Each schedule in the list has an Enabled switch and a Delete button. Switching it off pauses it without losing the settings; deleting it leaves every session it already opened exactly where it is.
Good to know
Counting needs no POS Pro - anyone you send the link to can count from a phone, a tablet or a laptop.
You can keep up to 20 schedules on a store, so a different slice of the shop can have its own day.

A session opened by a schedule is a normal stocktake - it can be cancelled, and a count that finds no differences writes no adjustment.
