Stockroom grades every item in your store A, B or C by its share of your revenue - A items are the products your revenue depends on, C items the long tail. The grade follows the item across the app, so you can reorder, filter, and review by what actually earns its shelf space.
How grading works
Each night, Stockroom ranks every item by net revenue - sales minus refunds - over your sales window (Settings, Reordering, Sales window (days); 30 days unless you've changed it). Items completing the top 80% of revenue are graded A, the next 15% B, and the rest C.
Two things about the grading are deliberate:
Grades are store-wide. An A item is an A everywhere - filtering a list by vendor or location never re-ranks what's left, so a grade always means the same thing.
Items with no sales in the window are Ungraded, not C. A C item sells - just modestly. An item that didn't sell at all is a different conversation, so it's shown separately instead of blurring what C means.
The ABC analysis report
Open Reports and choose ABC analysis. Every graded item is listed by revenue rank with its grade, net revenue, revenue share, units sold, current availability, and Value at cost - what your stock of that item is worth at cost price. Below the table, a per-grade summary shows how many items each grade holds, with the revenue it earned and the stock value sitting in it - so you can see at a glance whether your money is parked in the items that earn it. A note counts any active items that were ungraded.
Filter by vendor or product type to see how one slice of the catalog grades out, Export CSV for the full list, or use Schedule to have it emailed like any other report.
Use Columns to add Barcode to the table - the CSV always carries it, so the exported list pairs each item's grade with its barcode, ready for a scanner or a label tool. The Variants report carries an ABC grade column too, so either report alone gives you grades and barcodes side by side.
The report carries an Early access badge: the grading is live and real, and we're still deepening where grades reach - tell us what you'd like them to do next.
Grades across the app
Reorder - open More filters and use the ABC grade buttons. Pick A and B to restock only your revenue leaders right now and leave the tail for a quieter week.
Inventory - every product shows its grade in the ABC column (a product with several variants shows its best one). Filter the whole list by grade, including Ungraded, or hide the column from the Columns picker if you prefer.
Adding products to a purchase order, transfer, or adjustment - the product picker has the same ABC grade filter, so an order can start from just your A items.
Purchase order lines wear the grade badge beside each product - while you're building the order and after it's placed. It's on for everyone; switch it off from the line table's Columns menu if you'd rather not see it. The grade never appears on the PDF, email, or CSV your supplier receives.
A product's page shows its grade beside the title - hover or tap it for the revenue share, rank, and the window behind them.
Good to know
Grades refresh nightly, and a new install has them shortly after its sales history finishes syncing - there's no day-long wait.
The 80 / 15 / 5 split is of revenue, not of item counts. Most stores see a short A list earning most of the money and a long C tail - that imbalance is the insight, not a bug.
A grade is a lens, never a trigger - nothing is reordered, hidden, or changed automatically because of a grade.
Grading happens per variant. Lists that show one line per product show the best grade among its variants; the report ranks each variant on its own.
Comparing against Shopify's own ABC analysis by product report? The two won't match exactly, by design: Shopify grades on a fixed 28-day window, while Stockroom uses your sales window; Stockroom ranks on net revenue, with refunds deducted; grades refresh nightly; and locations you've excluded in Stockroom don't count toward availability or value. Both reports value negative stock at zero.
