Is this your error?
This article applies if you see this exact message in your Web Connector log:
The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.
It usually appears alongside one of:
QBWC1012: Authentication failed due to following error message.
QBWC1048: QuickBooks Web Connector could not verify the web application server certificate.
QBWC1051: The new application was not added.
The phrase "Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel" is the key — that specifically indicates a TLS issue. If you don't see that exact phrase in your log, this likely isn't the right article — see QuickBooks Web Connector can't connect to your WooCommerce store instead.
What's happening
Your QuickBooks computer is trying to connect to your website using an older TLS version that your site no longer accepts. TLS is the security protocol used for HTTPS connections — most websites now require TLS 1.2 or higher, and older Windows computers sometimes default to TLS 1.0 or 1.1.
This is most common when:
Your QuickBooks computer is running older Windows (Windows Server 2012, Windows 8.1, or earlier)
Your sync stopped working suddenly with no changes on your QuickBooks computer - usually because your host updated their server's TLS requirements
Confirm it's a TLS issue
Open Internet Explorer on your QuickBooks computer and try to load your WooCommerce store.
If your site won't load → TLS issue confirmed. Continue to the fix below.
If your site loads normally → This is likely not a TLS issue. See the main connection troubleshooting article.
How to fix it
Run Intuit's TLS readiness tool
This resolves the issue in most cases.
Close QuickBooks and the Web Connector completely. Both must be fully closed for the tool to work properly.
Download and install the QuickBooks Tool Hub (most recent version: 1.6.0.3).
Open the Tool Hub and run the TLS readiness tool. (Direct download is also attached below.)
Run as Administrator — right-click the tool and choose "Run as administrator." This step is sometimes necessary for the tool to update Windows correctly.
Once the tool finishes, restart your QuickBooks computer.
Try running the Web Connector again.

If the tool didn't fix it
If you've run the TLS tool, restarted, and the error continues:
Your Windows version may be too old. Windows Server 2012, Windows 8.1, and older versions sometimes can't be updated to support TLS 1.2 through this tool alone. The fix in this case is either updating Windows or moving QuickBooks to a newer computer.
Registry-level changes can sometimes help, but these are best handled by a Windows IT professional — they involve enabling TLS 1.2 directly in the Windows registry.
If you're stuck, send your Web Connector log to support@myworks.software and we'll help walk through next steps.
Not seeing the "Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel" message?
If your error doesn't include that exact phrase — even if you're seeing QBWC1048 or "could not verify certificate" — the cause is more likely a firewall, security rule, or other site-side issue. Start here instead:
